This Week I Learned
Top Courses Are Ranked for a Reason
I played the Penha Longa Atlantic Championship Course in Portugal, and… wow. Top 30 in Europe. I understand why.
Every hole felt completely unique, and the mix of mystical mountains, coastal views, and breathtaking design made it an experience unlike anything I’ve played before. I used to think course rankings were mostly hype, but not anymore.
If you’re ever in Lisbon, go play Penha Longa.

Secret Golf Simulator
What do you do when your wife is out of town for two days?
Personally, I’d squeeze in two rounds, hang out with friends, and wait for her return home completely exhausted. Josh Mayer had a different plan. He used those 48 hours to build a full-blown golf simulator in his living room—without his wife knowing. Bold move.
Video length: 17:25
TL:DW
The Problem - Like most sensible humans, Josh’s wife prefers a stylish, well-designed living room over a massive golf simulator in the middle of it. Can’t really argue with that.
The Solution- With his wife away for a weekend, Josh goes full DIY mode. He even tries to make it look nice with an accent wall—because clearly, that will make it acceptable.
The Reveal - After a day of construction, the simulator is up and running, and Josh invites some friends over for a few rounds before his wife returns. Her reaction, “Why did you do that?” has only one valid answer: “Why not?”
I won’t spoil Josh’s wife's answer to his question, “Can I keep it?” so if you want to know, watch the video. It’s definitely a feel-good video about every golfer’s dream. I kept imagining how this would go over at my house… and yeah, it’ll stay a dream.

Gotta give him credit. He could’ve stopped after the first attempt, but he wanted to entertain us. Thank you for your service!
Deals for the Feels
St. Patrick’s Day is around the corner, and while these aren’t pots of gold, they’re still solid finds for your wallet.
The entire Callaway Rogue series—woods, hybrids, and irons—is seeing deep price cuts right now. This is a perfect time to grab high-quality clubs without paying premium prices. Released just three years ago, this line is far from outdated and still holds up against newer models.
Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, GoodGood launched an all-green collection, covering everything from headcovers to shirts, pants, and hats. If you’re looking to bring a little extra luck to the course, this is the drop to check out.
FootJoy’s newest limited edition release comes with cream and gold accents, bringing a refined yet bold look to the course. It’s a slick combo that subtly says, I play golf, but I also mean business.

Cause & Effect
If you tend to thin or fat your shots, this quick video breaks down exactly why it happens—and in a way you probably haven’t seen before.
Video length: 1:30
TL:DW
Weight too far back - You’ll mostly hit the ground before the ball, leading to fat shots.
No weight shift - No divot, possible thin shots, and lost compression, which kills your distance.
Weight to the left - Pure strikes with proper compression.
At first, the video seems basic, but having this visual cue in mind has already helped me mid-round. I caught myself fatting shots, remembered this little toy golfer, and fixed it immediately.
Quick Bites for the Road
Gareth Bale’s Backyard Hole-in-One Challenge - Having your own private golf hole (complete with a moat) is next-level. Bale takes 365 shots at an ace. Must be nice.
Compression - What is it, how do you get it - A quick 3-minute refresher on why compression is your best friend and how to make it work for you.
John Daly on LIV Golf - Say what you want about LIV vs. PGA, but Daly cuts through the noise with a take that’s hard to argue with.
Quiz
What is the only golf course in the world where you need a helicopter to reach the tee box?

If you liked this newsletter, refer it to a friend. If you hated it, send it to the ONE person you desperately want to beat (on the course).
Quiz answer
The Extreme 19th hole at the Legend Golf & Safari Resort in South Africa requires players to take a helicopter to the tee, which sits on a mountain. Basically, you’re wasting money for a ball on that shank and the helicopter ride. So worth it!
Sincerely, your Magic Rabbit.
Leader through the rabbit hole. Has a closest-to-the-pin competition next week. Currently ranked #1 on TopTracer for that hole. Wish him luck.
