What we'll cover this week

  • Pros’ Processes - Process > Result. According to Pros

  • Comedic Gold - My favorite funny YouTube golfer is back

  • Less Intensity - Could it be that simple?

This Week I Learned

Training Golf in Bed.

Lying in bed, staring at the ceiling, trying to fall asleep… time to practice my hip rotation.

Since you’re flat on your back, you must be more deliberate with the movement. It isolates that part of the swing, helping ingrain the motion without worrying about everything else.

Yes, I know it’s weird. I try to be very discreet so my wife doesn’t think I’ve lost it completely. But it works. You can easily get 10-20 reps in every night, making your swing more automatic. Then, drift off to sleep while clutching Ben Hogan’s Five Lessons like a sacred text.

Pro Golfers’ Processes

“Process over results.” We hear it all the time—and after this past year, I can say it’s definitely true.

But what actual processes do pros follow? Is there anything we can copy? This mini-documentary from Titleist gives a deep dive into how some of the best players in the world structure their training, mindset, and routines.

Video length: 44:44

TL:DW

(The doc features 9 pros, but I’ve pulled the most interesting takeaways.)

  • Will Zalatoris – After two back surgeries, Will Z had to completely change his swing. Instead of leaning back at P9 & 10, he now shifts his weight a bit more forward and stands into it. Will says his new swing feels effortless—and isn’t that the goal? Every time my swing starts feeling easier, I know I’m improving. (Skip to that section here)

  • Lauren Coughlin – Lauren almost quit golf but instead committed 100% to a pro-level routine (nutrition, exercise, coach) but also has a few new drills in her arsenal.

    • Wearing safety glasses with the left side 50% blacked out to stop focusing on outcomes.

    • Speed drill for putting: Learn exactly how far to take the putter back for each putt length. (Check it out here.)

  • Cameron Young – Bigger focus on fitness and being physically prepared. Nothing groundbreaking, but a reminder that strength & conditioning matter.

  • JT Poston – Having a newborn forced him to change how he practices: quality over quantity.

    • One of his best drills? Sinking 4-footers over and over from different positions. Doing this builds confidence by seeing the ball drop constantly.

    • I need to integrate this into my own practice. Confidence on short putts has been a problem.

  • Patty Tavatanakit – Stresses the importance of sticking to your process and not letting bad results shake you.

    • Patty always starts practice with the same BTT drill—Balance, Tempo, Tension. (Too detailed to write out, but check it out here.)

  • Emily Pedersen – After losing her LPGA card, she struggled with mental pressure and anxiety attacks. She found that ice baths helped her handle stress by forcing her to control her breathing.

  • Ludvig Ă…berg – “Everyone is nervous on the first tee. It’s OK.”

    • Simple but a huge mindset shift. That first tournament shot isn’t just nerve-wracking for you—it’s stressful for everyone in your group. If you feel it, they feel it too.

I went into this doc thinking it would be another “Titleist is the best, look at our amazing sponsored athletes!” kind of video, but it was packed with useful insights. It also made these pros feel more relatable—which, honestly, is rare.

Some People Are Better With Blades

Professional Golf Advisor is back, showing why he’s better with blades—and why we’re better off just watching. This guy has officially become my favorite funny golf creator, and this video is pure gold.

Sit back and enjoy 31:55 minutes of unfiltered golf comedy, featuring:

  • Double headcovers (because why not?)

  • Double gloves (extra grip, extra confusion)

  • Rules with creative interpretations

  • A “rules master” who is not a fan of creativity (who the hell carries a string for measurement!)

  • A rookie drone pilot doing their best

  • …and so much more.

Because some of you are looking for a quick kick, here’s a shorter one as a 2-for-1 combo.

Creepy Coaching Methods

Well…. if it works? 🤷‍♂️

Deals for the Feels

Allegedly, the golf season isn’t too far away. Might as well stock up now before everything gets marked up again.

  • GolfDiscount is running some solid ball deals right now. If you’re running low on ammo, this is a great time to stock up—I’ve spotted pretty much every major brand, including ProV1s, at a discount.

  • PUMA just dropped a hunter-inspired golf collection, and I have to admit… it looks pretty slick. At least now, when you’re searching for yet another OB ball deep in the forest, you’ll be fully committed to the experience.

  • The coolest PGA event of the year deserves its own fashion drop, and FootJoy delivered. If you can’t be at the WM Phoenix Open, might as well dress like it.

Less Intensity

SMASHING the golf ball feels amazing. Sometimes, you just need to go full send, let loose on the range, and blow off some steam. But does that actually help your game? Probably not.

Video length: 0:45

TL:DW

  • Practice Swing vs. Real Swing – If your practice swing looks nothing like your actual swing (relaxed, smooth, tension-free), maybe that’s a clue.

  • Dial It Down – Tropicana Entertainment suggests swinging at practice swing intensity during your actual shot. Less tension, less effort, more control. Makes sense, right?

Gonna try this on the range tomorrow. Let’s see if it sticks.

Quick Bites for the Road

🤖 Futuristic INSANE Golf “Bag” - This might be my next bag. Damn, that thing is slick!

🎯 Jon Rahm vs. The Grid - The Grid is GolfDigest’s brutal accuracy test: 10 random 10-yard-wide gaps between 180-280 yards. Jon Rahm takes it on and… let’s just say he’s frustratingly accurate at this. Too accurate for his own good.

🎙️ GoodGood Combining Golf & Entertainment - Garrett Clark sits down for an interview about how GoodGood blends golf and entertainment. It’s wild to see how far YouTube Golf has come. At 6:29 minutes, it’s an easy watch.

What unusual hazard exists at the Coober Pedy Golf Club in Australia?

Quiz answer

The course has no grass, so players carry a piece of artificial turf to hit off from on every shot. Perfect lie EVERY time anyone? Probably a nice rollout as well.

Sincerely, your Magic Rabbit.
