This Week I Learned
Grips matter. A lot.
Way back in one of the first Rabbithol newsletters, I raved about how a simple glove upgrade (Vice, for the win) gave me way more control and better grip feel.
Now I’m thinking about regripping every single club.
Why? Because of a MyGolfSpy article I stumbled on this week (linked further down). I’d tested a few grips at the shop before, but honestly, I had no idea what I was looking for or why it made a difference. This article opened my eyes… and probably my wallet, too.
It turns out grip feel, texture, taper, and firmness have a bigger impact than I thought. Before the season is in full swing, it might be time for a full regrip session.
Useless golf videos we’ve watched this week, so you don’t have to:

Genius Bryson?
When we’re trying to improve our swing, we usually look to the pros. The problem is that they’re playing a completely different game. Most of us don’t have 8 hours a day to spend in the gym or grinding on the range. And trying to copy tiny technical moves from the elite usually just leads to frustration.
But sometimes—sometimes—a pro does something worth copying. Because it’s not about micro-movements; it’s about how they think.
This video on Bryson DeChambeau is one of those rare cases:
Video length: 13:25
TL:DW
Since 2019, Bryson’s rise from “another talented guy” to one of the most talked-about golfers has been wild to watch.
Train like a bodybuilder – Bryson didn’t just lift weights. He went full bulk-mode—gained 50 pounds, ate triple the normal amount, and trained like a powerlifter. His goal? More speed, more distance. I dare to say: Mission accomplished.
Same-length irons – Traditional iron sets have different lengths and weights, which means constant adjustments. Bryson’s irons? All same length and weight. No variance except loft. Pure consistency.
Fight inflammation – Turns out that Bryson had food allergies that were wrecking his recovery. He overhauled his diet, dropped a bunch of weight, and suddenly bounced back faster after rounds.
What you can copy from Bryson (without getting weird):
Add muscle – You don’t need to bulk like Bryson, but core and lower-body strength matter—especially for stability and balance. I train at home; no gym is required. Here’s my quick 20–30 min routine if you want to try it.
Basic nutrition – One protein shake per day. Add 3–5g of creatine. That’s it. No need to overthink it. I use this protein that Arnold (Schwarzenegger, not Palmer) recommends (because… Arnold), and any simple creatine monohydrate will do.
Test the irons – Cobra’s ONE Length irons sold like crazy for a reason. I’m planning to try them when it’s time to replace my Pings. Could be a game-changer.
Run a food test – I’ve put off a full-body checkup for way too long. I’m now ordering some at-home tests to check for food sensitivities and other markers. If it worked for Bryson, maybe it’s worth a look.

Accurate.
Followed by the biggest slice into OB on the 1st tee and that all too familiar sound of a tree being hit.
Deals for the Feels
Not the hottest week for offers, but there are still a few solid promos worth a look before stock runs out.
Load up while you can: Vice runs a limited-time offer where you get three gloves but only pay for two. It's a great time to refresh your bag. Stock’s already running low, so don’t wait too long.
RockBottomGolf is clearing inventory, and the Callaway + Odyssey section is packed. Drivers, putters, wedges, bags—pretty much everything is reduced between 25–40%. Could be a great chance to grab gear at preseason markdowns.
Several Golf Pride grips are currently discounted. If your clubs are due for a grip refresh, this might be your cue. (Why this matters? More on that in the next section.)

Grips Matter
As I mentioned earlier, it turns out I knew absolutely nothing about grips. I felt like a caveman discovering Bluetooth while standing in front of the grip rack.
If you’re in the same boat, this MyGolfSpy overview is a great place to start. It breaks down the different Golf Pride models and recommends who should play with which grip.
Reading time: 3 minutes
TL:DR
I always thought wrapped grips should be my thing. Spoiler: They’re absolutely not.
Some grips come with subtle (and some not-so-subtle) alignment guides—how did I not know this?!
Golf Pride also has an online fitting tool recommending three grip options based on your answers. Surprisingly helpful.
Give it a look before you blindly regrip your entire bag. Or use it as motivation to spend more money on golf.
Quick Bites for the Road
🥸 Sandbagging a Random Golfer with a Hidden Pro - The Divot Dudes are back at it—this time disguising a pro and setting up a 2v2 match with a random golfer for $400. Even if you’re not a big fan of their usual content, this one hits different. Starts strong and stays entertaining the whole way through.
🌸 How Augusta National Quietly Transformed Its Iconic 13th Hole - Augusta season is basically a national holiday, and this deep dive into how they reshaped the iconic 13th hole is a brilliant watch. Subtle changes, huge impact. It’s exactly the kind of thing that builds Masters hype the right way.
🫠Can Bobby Fairways FINALLY Break 80? - No idea how I missed this one, but wow—it’s gold. Watching someone tee off with sky-high hopes and slowly unravel into a puddle of frustration? Relatable doesn’t even begin to cover it. ONE OF US.
Quiz
What’s the official ruling if a player’s ball lands inside a moving golf cart?
👇 Answer see below 👇
If you liked this newsletter, refer it to a friend. If you hated it, send it to the ONE person you desperately want to beat (on the course).
Quiz answer
The ball must be dropped at the estimated spot where it entered the cart without penalty unless the player is responsible for the movement. Does that cover when my drive is hit so hard that the ball moves the cart, even after slicing? No? Ok.
Sincerely, your Magic Rabbit.
Leader through the rabbit hole. Can’t believe it’s already Augusta season.
